The mission of the McArthur Park Organization is to make a difference one family at a time. For children with a parent dealing with life-threatening medical condition to enrich the human experience with memories, strength, and joy. Families must be referred to the McArthur Park Organization and determined to be medically eligible for a referral. The treating physician makes the final determination of whether the medical condition allows him or her to safely participate in "Gone Fishing" experience.

Does the McArthur Organization telemarket?

The McArthur Park Organization does not, under any circumstances, engage telemarketers to raise money, despite sometimes being confused with other organizations that do. In fact we have a policy against telephone and door-to-door solicitation. If you receive a call from someone asking for a donation, ask the caller to send you more information, or contact our offices directly.

Are there any restrictions?

The McArthur Park Organization follows specific policies and guidelines for granting a family's "Gone Fishing" experience to the park. The physician also plays a major role in determining whether the individuals condition will permit travel to the park safely. Organization staff work closely with the physician to determine the most appropriate time to grant the "Gone Fishing" Experience, keeping in mind the treatment protocol or other concerns.

Does the family have to pay for the "Gone Fishing" Experience?

No. All expenses are fully covered, including all travel, food allowance and necessary equipment. The McArthur Organizations objective is to create a memorable experience for both the children and family that is not clouded by financial concerns.

How much does granting a "Gone Fishing" experience cost?

The cost associated with coordinating a trip varies depending on the family. Because each family situation is so unique, there is no particular average cost of a trip. The McArthur Park Organization makes every effort to cover all associated cost.

Does the family have to meet income qualifications before a parent can receive a "Gone Fishing" experience?

No. Family income is not a consideration in determining whether they are eligible.

What are your sources of funding?

The McArthur Park Organization is a privately help corporation and finances its work through private funds, sponsor contributions, corporate donations, planned gifts, the sale of Adirondack Style Art, and representing the "Unique and Heritage" Company with Timber Frame construction by sales in the Gateway Gallery. The Organization relies on in-kind contributions to lessen the cost of goods and services.

Do you grant the "Gone Fishing" experience to families with Ill children.

No. The McArthur Park Organization generally grants weekends to families dealing with a Parent who has a life-threatening Illness and has been determined to be medically eligible for a "Gone Fishing" Experience.

Can my financial contribution be tax deductible?

No. Because the McArthur Park Organization is a privately held Sub-S Corporation, donations are not considered tax deductable.

Does a parents condition have to be terminal to qualify?

Yes. We want to help build lasting memory for the children who will deal with the loss of a parent.
